What Is A Gumbasia?

A Gumbasia Is Simply A  3 Minute And 10 Second Short Film, That Was Released September 1955, The First Clay Produced Was By Art Clokey. Who Used The Same Technique And Went Onto creating Gumby And Davey And Goliath. 

The Style Of Gumbasia?

Gumbasia Was Created In The Style Vorkapich Taught Called Kinesthetic Film Principles. This Was Described As "Massaging Of The Eye Cells" This Technique, Was Based On Camera Movements And Stop-Motion Editing, This Later Was Responsible For Much Of The Look, And Feel Later Seen In Gumby Films. Whilst Doing The Gumbasia Animation It Was Fun And Creative. 

What Was It Like?

Aardman The Film And Television Animation Company, That Produced Wallace and Gromit Series Are Famous. Unlike The Claymation Productions That The Company Are Famous For, Aardman Was Cel-Animated. The Name Comes From The Dutch Word "aarde" This means "earth". However, "aardman" Is More Commonly Translated As "goblin". They've Released Films Such As "Wallace and Gromit" "Chicken Run" "Arthur Christmas" "The Pirates! In an adventure with scientists" and "Flushed Away" And "Shaun The Sheep".

A Memorable Gumbasia 

Morph Which Was Produced For The BBC By Aardman Animations, Was An Animated Plasticine With A Stop-Motion Character That Appeared With The Late Tony Hart, This Was An Early Success For Ardman.

How Do They Construct This ?

To Construct A Animation, They Get Loads Of Clay And Transformed Them Into Different Shapes And Sizes Whilst Using StopMotion. A Lot Of Hand Rolling Is Involved To Perfect The Shape. Sometimes They Had To Step On The Clay With Their Footwear To Give It That Finely Shoe Zig Zag, Cross Design, Pencils To Give It The Straight Stripes, Stalig Lights To Make The Cones Vertical And They Reversed Footage, Meaning They Played It Back to Give It That Illusion They Wanted.


Advantages Of Gumbasia?

 3D Looks More Effective And You Can Always Adjust And Do The Objects 360 Degrees. Unlike Cut Out Which Is Just One Angle And Doesn't Look So Effective.The Clay Comes In Various Colours Which Makes It Look More Alive, Than Dull.
